What does each different share mean?
Is Marble Canyon just a fancy timeshare?
There are two levels of fractional ownership and three different categories:
1. Full: 2 weeks every year (1 in the summer and 1 in the winter)
2. Split: 1 week every year (alternates between summer and winter)
1. Regular: Weeks rotate through the entire year
2. Deluxe: Summer week only rotates in July & August
3. Shoulder: Summer week rotates from April-September excluding July & August
Can a I own a share as a Corporation?
No. In Marble Canyon you are entering a co-ownership agreement which means you are becoming a fractional owner of a specific vacation home, not leasing time at a resort. Purchasing an undivided deeded interest in the property gives you ownership of 1/26 or 1/52 of the entire unit and its chattels. Like any real estate investment, that equity is subject to appreciation. That means as the market prices in the area increase, so too does your investment. With this investment: you can sell your equity, bequeath it, or transfer ownership to your children. There is no threat of lease retirement, it is yours until you decide to take one of the aforementioned actions. On the other hand, a timeshare purchase provides you an annual vacation, not lifelong equity. Benefits come in the form of access to exotic sites around the world and, depending on where you, are a low buy-in with high annual maintenance fees. Typically, your purchase price entitles you to holidays for a specified time (i.e. 40 years). Most timeshares let you sell or transfer your rights. However, because timeshares become less valuable with each passing year, their resale value is typically very low.
Can I purchase a single share with another couple/individual?
Absolutely! Many corporations have purchased at Marble Canyon for a wide variety of reasons; financial, employee-based, customer relationship management, etc.
Who looks after my vacation home when I'm not there?
Yes. In fact, a number of our owners have made the plunge with friends or with extended family members. We will discuss with your lawyer how you’d like your names to appear on title.
If my week rents do I share the revenue with the other owners in my vacation home?
Fairmont Creek Property Management/Rentals
is the professional management company that looks after Marble Canyon. Your property, along with 21 other properties in Marble Canyon, are managed and maintained by Fairmont Creek. By becoming a fractional owner you will have the benefit of on-site maintenance and cleaning crews to ensure that there is nothing that stands in the way of your enjoyment while on vacation in Fairmont Hot Springs. They are also a professional rental agency so if you intend to generate some rental revenue from the time you own in your vacation home it is as hassle-free as possible. All you have to do is identify the time you would like to rent and they will handle the rest; marketing, administration, bookings, and payment.
What is there to do in the area?
No. The revenue generated from the time you own is not shared. There is a 25% management fee charged on the gross revenue for the work done by Fairmont Creek. Therefore, if we rent your week for $2,000 you are eligible for $1,500. This money can be sent to you in a cheque or kept in-house and used towards future maintenance fee payments for your ownership.
Can I give my week to a family member or friend if I am unable to use it?
Fairmont Hot Springs and the Columbia Valley offer activities and experiences for every lifestyle. The most common interests are relaxation and outdoor activities. Fairmont Hot Springs specifically is world renowned for its natural and odorless mineral hot pools. There are also two day spas located in Fairmont that offer massages and other spa treatments. What do I need to bring with me on my Marble Canyon vacation?
Of course! Having the ability to gift your week to a family member or friend is one of the assets that ownership at Marble Canyon provides. The only caution to be aware of is damage as you will be responsible for your guests. No need to worry about exchanging keys as Fairmont Creek can generate a door code for your guests so that they will have no issue checking in to your vacation home.
Can I trade my time?
All you need to bring is your clothes and be prepared to relax. It’s your holiday! All of our units are fully furnished and come equipped with everything from cutlery to linens. This truly is a “turn-key” operation. Are units also have full kitchens so you can limit the expense of dining out every night. Grab some groceries from the local market and get ready to entertain!
Marble Canyon vacation homes are affiliated with RCI
. That means as an owner you have the ability to become an RCI Points member and access over 4,000 resorts worldwide. They will assess a point value for your week depending on the time of year and unit you own in. From there you can accumulate points from your weeks at Marble Canyon and travel for many weeks through RCI all over the world!
Fairmont Creek has also generated an “Owner’s Corner” message board. As a Marble Canyon owner you will have access to a line of communication with other owners who are interested in trading their time. There are no fees associated with this program.
